Cash transfers (CTs) are increasingly becoming a pathway towards providing social protection and mitigation against hunger and poverty. CCBI conducts CT baseline studies, which are designed to provide the actual measurements of various parameters prior to implementation of the programme, and markers with which household status in future, especially after the CT programme intervention would be compared.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development (MGCSD) and HLSP, a firm based in England, CCBI is conducting an impact assessment on a CT programme for orphans and vulnerable children in Kitui, Mwingi, Thika, Kisii Central, Gucha, Kakamega, Nandi, Wareng, Eldoret West, and Eldoret East.
CCBI provides skills enhancement and capacity building among civil society organizations in Western Region through a partnership of the Regional Facilitating Agency (RFA), the National AIDS Control Council (NACC) and AMREF. All the counties (Bungoma County, Busia County, Kakamega County, and Vihiga County) were involved in the capacity building, which was conducted through an institutional needs assessment, training, mentoring and coaching.
CCBI conducts research at community level including community needs assessments (CNA), Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) studies, baseline studies, M&E, and PRA/PLA among communities in Bondo, Nyabondo, Siaya, Homa Bay, Suba, Kakamega, Emuhaya, Malindi, Kilifi Districts.
CCBI conducts BCC programmes focusing on activities to stop the transmission of HIV among youths in Machakos, Kajiado North, and Thika Districts.
CCBI carries out training of communities on malaria prevention and treatment in Bondo Malindi, and Sondu.
CCBI implements projects that are aimed at enhancing the capacity of communities to improve their environment, and nutritional level from their own initiatives in Kakelo and Awendo, South Nyanza.

Recognizing that the best support that an orphaned child can get is to receive psycho-social support from close relatives, CCBI strengthens the capacity of care givers to provide quality care to OVC in Awendo, Rongo District.
CCBI empowers community groups towards entrepreneurship and business skills. This programme is active in Thika, Machakos and Kajiado North Districts.
CCBI trains youth groups, women groups, faith based organizations and other CSOs on leadership skills and governance and conflict resolution practices.
